Our Story

I'm Mark Brown, or Broon if you prefer.

I've been riding bikes of all sorts since I was wee, from the Raleigh Chopper I had when I was 10, to doing silly things on early mountain bikes in the Pentland hills in my teens, the occasional time trial and plenty of cycle touring. I've ridden many of the roads in Scotland at one time or another, and having spent a lot of my life in Edinburgh, have spent a fair bit of time at Scotland's amazing mtb trail centres too.

I spent most of my working life in heavy engineering, working my way through from apprentice to tradesman, through to Service Engineer, until I took voluntary redundancy a few years ago, shortly after moving to the Highlands.

I've always been a bit of a bike geek and tinkerer, and if I'm not riding, kayaking, SUPing or running with the dog, you can normally find me in the workshop pondering a project or two.

Broon's Bikes is just me & our dog Riof, and we're very happy to help with whatever you need to get you out and riding.

Why Broon's Bikes, Why Us?

Broon's Bikes originally only did services and repairs to bikes, having started in the late summer of 2020. Since then I’ve added to the website to give customers more options. Broon's Bikes Wee Shop is a new part of Broon's Bikes. If you want to support a small/tiny wee business rather than large companies we'd be very grateful. To keep us all going, large companies will also get supported as they are supplying me with the parts. So it's a win win for everybody.
